Emergence of Beauty. Street signs are imbued with new life through the application of stickers over time, evolving into canvases for creative expression and creating a multi-textured surface, thus deviating from the utility of the signs’ first purpose. Patterns emerge organically from a continual exploration of reshaping ordinary and natural elements, drawing inspiration from narratives of evolution and reinterpretation, reminiscent of flowers breaking through concrete. Chris Calmer was born and raised in Copenhagen. Chris is a visual artist working in the intersection between art, fashion, and commercial photography. His conceptual approach is playful, often challenging mainstream aesthetics by creating campaigns that are sometimes hyper-realist, sometimes dreamy, but always with a great eye for detail. Chris Calmer first started morphing photographs into digital drawings before starting shooting his own images. He creates his concepts and projects from A to Z using his expertise in image manipulation. It’s often difficult to tell the difference between what’s real or not in his work, and that’s probably where the richness of his work lies. His photography has been showcased in campaigns for brands such as Puma, Happy Socks, Triumph, Stine Goya, as well as editorial work for Vogue Scandinavia, Dansk Magazine, and many more. Chris’s exhibitions include an installation for Ikea, Denmark and, most recently, he also held a solo exhibition at Tableau. Additionally, his work has been featured in numerous group exhibitions. Chris’s artistic expression combines various printing techniques and often involves working with different textiles and surfaces to express his photography.
